
Merve Özçelik, a thesis-based master's student in the Pediatric Health and Diseases Nursing Program at the Institute of Health Sciences of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN), was awarded second prize among 219 projects for her innovative thesis titled “A Comparison of the Effectiveness of Two Different Methods of Nebulizer Education Given to Parents Admitted to Pediatric Emergency Services: Traditional and QR Code-Based Smartphone Education.
The thesis, prepared by Merve Özçelik under the supervision of Dr. Müge Seval, a faculty member at the BEUN Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, received the second prize in the “University Students’ Social Contribution Project Competition” organized by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), marking a significant achievement. During the award ceremony, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, and Youth Centers, BEUN graduate student Merve Özçelik received her award from Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, the Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
This project, which stood out for its social contribution, aims to enhance parental involvement in treatment processes consciously and actively, particularly in pediatric emergency services, by combining health literacy with digital technologies. By comparing the effectiveness of different educational methods, the study presents a practical contribution to improving the quality of healthcare services.
Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, expressed his pride and satisfaction with the remarkable achievement of graduate student Merve Özçelik and shared the following remarks:
