MS in Microbiology Program

The Department of Medical Microbiology at the Institute of Health Sciences has been offering Master's Degree with Thesis since 2002. The aim of the program is to train scientists in the field of medical microbiology who have assimilated the philosophy of science, have the competence to work in the relevant scientific field and in a research laboratory, are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, know how to access information, pay attention to ethical and deontological rules in their studies, have reached the level of programming and conducting a scientific study, can present and publish their studies orally and in writing. The overall educational goal of the program is to transfer the basic principles of Medical Microbiology (including bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology and microorganism genetics, serology), including the pathogenesis of microorganisms and clinical infectious diseases, to increase students' working experience in the microbiology laboratory, to teach scientific research and to prepare students for academic life. Students who successfully complete this program are entitled to receive a Master's degree (MS).
