Our University, which was established in 1992 under the name of Zonguldak Karaelmas University, was renamed as Bülent Ecevit University (BEU) in accordance with Article 18 of Law No. 6287 published in the Official Gazette No. 28261 dated 11.04.2012, and continues its activities under the name of ‘Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University’ in accordance with Article 6 of Law No. 7141, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 18 May 2018 and numbered 30425.
Our Institute was established with the Law No. 3837 enacted in 1992 and started its postgraduate education activities with the opening of 7 programmes in the 2000-2001 academic year. Currently, there are a total of 30 postgraduate education programmes, including 18 master's degree programmes with thesis, 1 master's degree programme without thesis and 11 doctorate programmes, in a total of 15 departments established in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, School of Physical Education and Sports within the Institute.
The Institute of Health Sciences, which includes the management and administrative structure, is located in the Obesity and Diabetes Application and Research Centre building of our University, and students use the common advanced education, research and social infrastructures in Ibn-i Sina and Farabi Campus.
