The doctoral program, which was opened by the decision of the Executive Board of YÖK on 22.02.2017, provides doctoral education as the Child Health and Diseases Nursing Department Doctorate Program in the Health Sciences Institute Nursing Department.

Department of Child Health and Diseases Nursing Ph.D. program will be able to diagnose and evaluate the development of children and adolescents aged 0-18 who are normally developing, with special needs, acute and chronic diseases, in need of protection and under developmental risk, who will take part in health, education and social fields. It aims to train pediatric nurses who can prepare and implement developmental support programs, develop and implement research and application projects, use technological and scientific methods and techniques, adopt an eclectic approach and adhere to ethical values.

There are compulsory and elective courses in the doctoral education program. The doctorate program consists of 21 credits in total and at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least seven courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposal and thesis work, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS in one academic year for students who have been accepted with a master's degree with thesis. For students who have been accepted with a bachelor's degree, it consists of at least 300 ECTS credits, including 14 courses with at least forty-two credits, seminars, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work.
The thesis advisor is appointed for each student in accordance with the provisions of the first clause of the 18th article of the Postgraduate Education and Training Regulations. A student admitted with a master's degree must take the proficiency exam by the end of the fifth semester at the latest, and the student admitted with a bachelor's degree by the end of the seventh semester at the latest. The student who successfully completes the doctoral proficiency exam pursuant to the 21st article of the regulation, verbally defends his thesis proposal, which includes the purpose, method and study plan of the research to be conducted, in front of the thesis monitoring committee, within six months at the latest. The thesis monitoring committee convenes at least twice a year for the student whose thesis proposal is accepted. The finalization of the student's doctoral thesis is carried out in accordance with the 22nd article of the regulation. According to the 23rd article of the regulation, the student is entitled to receive a doctoral diploma, provided that he/she is successful in the thesis defense and meets the other conditions.

The duration of the doctoral program is applied in accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of the Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation. For those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, the doctoral program is eight semesters for each semester, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in, regardless of whether they are registered or not, and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters; For those admitted with a bachelor's degree, ten semesters and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters. The maximum time to successfully complete the credit courses required for the doctoral program is four semesters for those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, and six semesters for those who are accepted with a bachelor's degree. Students who cannot successfully complete their credit courses within this period or cannot achieve the minimum grade point average required by the higher education institution are dismissed from the higher education institution.
Qualification awarded
Those who have successfully completed the doctorate program are granted a PhD of Nursing Degree in Pediatric Nursing.
